Embed Code

Write a whole embed in one line of text.

#Structure

Embed code starts with {embed}, then the embed's parts.

  • { opens a part.
  • : goes between the part's name and its value.
  • $v goes between two parts.
  • } closes a part.
{embed}$v{title: Rules}$v{description: Be kind.}$v{color: #5865F2}

#Parameters

  • {title: text} the title.
  • {description: text} the main text.
  • {url: link} makes the title a link.
  • {color: #5865F2} the bar on the left, as a hex code.
  • {thumbnail: link} the small picture in the corner.
  • {image: link} the large picture at the bottom.
  • {timestamp: true} shows when the message was sent.
  • {content: text} plain text above the embed.

These take several pieces, split by &&, in order. Leave an optional piece empty to skip it.

Author
  • Name: the small line above the title.
  • Icon (optional): a link to a picture beside it.
  • Link (optional): opened when the name is clicked.
{author: Utilities && {guild.icon} && https://utilities.best}
Field
  • Name: the field's heading.
  • Value: its text.
  • inline (optional): puts it beside the field before it.

Repeat it for more fields, up to 25.

{field: Price && $5 && inline}$v{field: Stock && 12 left && inline}
Footer
  • Text: the line at the bottom.
  • Icon (optional): a link to a picture beside it.
{footer: Thanks for reading && {guild.icon}}
Button
  • Color or link: blurple, green, grey, red, or a link to open.
  • Label: the text on it.
  • Emoji (optional, not on a link).
  • disabled (optional): can't be pressed.

Up to 25 per message. See Button Code for every way to write one.

{button: https://utilities.best && Website}$v{button: green && Open && ✅}

An empty piece still needs its &&: {author: Utilities && && https://utilities.best} has a link but no icon.

#Variables

Any part can hold variables, links included.

{embed}$v{title: Hi, {user.name}!}$v{thumbnail: {user.avatar}}

#Where it works

Every message you write for the bot: welcome, leave and boost messages, autoresponders, sticky messages, button replies and /send. Add text around it, or up to 10 embeds in one message. To save one as {embed:name}, paste it into the editor's Embed code box (see Embeds).

The embed builder on the website writes the code for you, with a preview.

#Frequently asked questions

#How do I add a new line?

Write {newline}. With the prefix, or in the editor's boxes, Enter works too.

{embed}$v{description: Be kind.{newline}No advertising.}

#Why is my embed code sent as plain text?

In a message, one mistake turns the whole code into text. Check for:

  • {embed} missing at the start, or $v missing between two parts.
  • A part name spelt wrong, or one that isn't in the lists above.
  • A color that isn't a hex code. red doesn't work; #FF0000 does.
  • A field with no value, or {timestamp: …} with anything but true.

The editor's Embed code box keeps the parts that work and leaves out the rest.

#Why did my embed break when I added a saved button?

A saved {button:name} right after embed code is read as part of the embed, so the whole code shows as text. Put the button first, or words between them.

{button:verify} {embed}$v{title: Verify to get in}

#Why is my picture missing?

Links must start with https:// or http://. Others are left out, and the rest of the embed is still sent.

#How do I get the code of an embed I already have?

Give a saved embed's name, or a link to a message in your server for every embed on it.
