Snipe

#Overview

Snipe shows what a channel just lost: a message someone deleted, what a message said before it was edited, or a reaction someone took off. Anyone in the server can use it, and each channel keeps its own snipes.

#Getting started

Run it in the channel where something was deleted. It shows the newest one first.

Add a number to jump further back. ,s 3 shows the third most recent deleted message, the same card you would reach by pressing next twice.

#What it keeps

• Deleted messages (/snipe message, ,s): who sent it, when it was deleted, the text, and any pictures it had.
• Edits (/snipe edit, ,se): what the message said before the edit.
• Removed reactions (/snipe reaction, ,sr): who took it off and which emoji it was.

Each card shows the person's avatar, a line like "Deleted 2 minutes ago", and the content under it.

#Moving through snipes

Use the arrows under the card to go back through older snipes, or search to find one by its words or by the person's name. The bin button removes the card. Only the person who ran the command can use these buttons.

#Clearing snipes

/snipe clear (or ,sc) forgets every deleted message, edit and removed reaction kept for the channel. This one needs Manage Messages.

#Good to know

• Two hours. Snipes are kept for two hours, then they're gone for good. They are never saved to a database.
• 19 per kind. Each channel keeps the last 19 deleted messages, 19 edits and 19 removed reactions. Older ones drop off as new ones come in.
• Bots are skipped. Messages and reactions from bots aren't kept.
• Purges. Messages removed with purge show up in snipe, except the ones taken by /purge bots, which also clears the channel's snipes.
• Not everything can be sniped. If Utilities didn't have a copy of a message when it was deleted, or of a message's old text when it was edited, there is nothing to show.
